The story
Maghi Mela is the principal annual religious and cultural gathering of Sri Muktsar Sahib. According to the District Sri Muktsar Sahib Administration, the fair takes place every year in January after Lohri and commemorates the valour of the forty Mukte who sacrificed their lives at the Battle of Khidrana. Pilgrims gather at Sri Muktsar Sahib and take part in religious observances, including bathing in the sacred tank. During the mela, the town takes on a festive character and a large cattle fair is also held at village Lambi Dhab, where horses are showcased.
