Gurdwara Tambu Sahib is situated near the southeastern corner of the historic sarovar.
The District Administration records that the site marks the place where the Mukte took position behind trees and shrubs which were camouflaged to resemble tents, or tambu.
The present building replaced an earlier structure built at the initiative of Maharaja Mohinder Singh of Patiala.
The present structure was constructed through karseva during the 1980s.
Why it matters
Tambu Sahib preserves the memory of the battlefield position traditionally associated with the Forty Mukte.
